I just bought the movie Barbie in the 12 Dancing Princesses for my Fluffy, and fortunately her brothers don’t yet know that it’s not cool for them to like Barbie movies, so they’re all happily watching it. We’ve all probably seen it about 57 times now.
And I have the most random thing to admit.
I think “Prince” Derek is HOT.
I would have included a picture with that last statement, but I couldn’t find any, even through lengthy google image searches–which leads me to believe that I’m the only “grown up” who thinks that Derek is hot. Or, perhaps, that any animated character is hot.
Alas, it’s not the first time. I always kinda had a thing for Eric from The Little Mermaid and Prince Philip from Sleeping Beauty.
And really, I can’t believe I’m writing any of this.
Still, I know I’m not entirely alone. I specifically remember a moment in college when I was hanging out with some guy friends who had just seen Disney’s “Hercules” (it had just come out) and they were talking about how Meg was by far the hottest Disney character ever! When I saw the movie myself, I thought that she was definitely the skankiest of all of Disney’s princesses (which is, of course, what these guys found so appealing). Still, the fact that ALL of them were saying this about an animated character makes me think that perhaps this is not totally unheard of.
So, fess up. Did you ever have a thing for an animated character?
(And is anyone gonna agree with me about Derek? Come on…)

I can’t say I know anything about Derek, or any of the Barbie movies… Sam just never got into Barbies… I’m totally with you on Eric. And, for some reason, the Beast on Beauty and the Beast. I can’t explain it. Something about big, hairy guys with gentle souls. (Well, I guess that pretty much sums up Nature Boy…)
Derek is totally dreamy yes…but Eric? Ah…he stole my heart first…
Oh, I SOOOO agree! We own every Barbie movie (I have four girls and one boy), and he also doesn’t realize that he probably shouldn’t like them as much as he does. Hee Hee
Anyhoo…..I think Derek is Hot also. And just to go off topic (way off), if I was a CAR, I would probably think LIghtning McQueen was hot too. I’m just saying………….

I think Eric from the Little Mermaid is hot too. But if I had to choose an animated character to be with, I’d definitely choose Aladdin. He’s not the hottest, but he has the best personality.
While attraction is too strong a word for me, I am fond of characters. I was a bit bummed when the kids stopped watching The Incredibles. I enjoyed every character in that one.
Derek and Eric are very unusual names for Princes! I’m not too sure about the animated princes, they all seem alittle too perfect. Apart from Shrek ofcourse!
I haven’t seen Derek so can’t comment about him…but Prince Eric was H….O…..T!!! No question…to bad he was just a cartoon…Ariel was soooo lucky…lol

We have all the Barbie Movie due to Snow White’s love of all things Barbie. I am trying to remember what Derek looked like but I am drawing a blank. I can picture the princesses & settings in detail but Derek flat out escapes me.
You know what this means right? I will be watching that movie tonight. Otherwise it would torment me. Yes, it would.

As a kid, I was in love with Speed Racer. And before that, Robin Hood, you know in the Disney version? He was a fox. Literally, he was a fox. Does that make me more weird? He was animated and he was an animal.

I can’t remember what I wrote last time you posted this, but it was probably that I love the prince in Mulan, when Donny Osmond is his singing voice.
And when Jethro in Prince of Egypt sings, it’s Brian Stokes Mitchell, so of course, that cartoon is smokin.’

My first one, at age 4:
Teela from He-man. Her costume was ridiculous, but I was 4 and she was hot. And I was He-man, so it made sense.
And I have to disagree that Meg was the skankiest. She was streetwise. And hot. Of course having said that I’m not sure that I can point someone out that was “skankier” per se, but still. Maybe Jane from Tarzan. She was like, hanging out in her underwear with a nearly naked man. Or “Sleeping Beauty.” We all know how she got that name, and it has nothing to due with evil spells, you know what I’m saying?
But now that I’m all grown and married and have kids and all, I think I’m going to have to go with Elasti-girl from the Incredibles, betcause (1) she reminds me of my wife, and (2) I realize that you have to combine hotness with practical stuff like being a good mom. And (3) she elastic…which is a potentially…fruitful ability. Hehe.

My first crush as a kid? Christopher Robin from the Pooh cartoons. My fascination with men with British accents probably dates right back to that.

My first animated one was Tarzan in that not well animated cartoon.
i can’t recall the dude out of barbie’s 12. and i’m so not going to pop that dvd in just for that. i’ll be subjected to it at some point.
when i grew up i was going to marry fred out of scooby doo. i mean really. the scarf. it really really got my cotton socks going ‘ping’!
but really i am a sucker for music and the ‘once upon a dream’ scene, and then prince philip joins in….ooohhh.
but then there was my inspector gadget phase. i mean, okay, he’s not much to look at.. . but gadgets? ohhh goo…goooo. gadget mobile…..ahhhhh! (oh wait, this is a family blog. sorry. i’ll take that kind of talk somewhere else).
okay. i thought the dude shrek temporarily turned into was NOT bad. he could ride in to *my* town any day…
still, anyone know what fred’s up to? did he kick that skank daphne to the curb yet? i mean really. what did *she* contribute (ignore my jealousy).
