Oh where, oh where has your Brilly-Brill gone?

Published by Brillig at 10:03 pm under Blogginess

Sometimes, motherhood gets in the way of blogging.

I KNOW! Where are my priorities?

Fuzzles has been sick all week. There has been very little sleep around here, thanks to his sickies. I’m so used to running on very little sleep and I thought I was numb to exhaustion now. But this? It nearly pushed me over the edge.

So, after I was already on the verge of total collapse, Scooby screamed all day yesterday, and all night last night. I am not exaggerating here. ALL NIGHT. This morning I took him to the doc and we learned that his eardrum. had. exploded. The doc kept saying to me, “I cannot overstate the pain he is in right now.” Ooooooh, my poor baby!

He’ll be fine soon. Tonight his fever is nearly at 104 (40 C) and he’s not exactly happy, but he’s not screaming his brains out. And he’s on quite the prescription regimen–part of which requires him to sit completely still for 15 minutes twice a day. HAHAHAHAHA! Have you ever MET a two year old? THEY DO NOT SIT STILL! So, yeah. That’s fun.

Hubby and I are total zombies right now. He took the midnight to three a.m. shift last night, and then I took the 3-6 shift. And he stayed home from work so that thing wouldn’t be quite so crazy for me– I could run all the kids to all their various locations (preschool, kindergarten, doc. appts, etc.) without having to take everyone with me every time, letting the babies take their full naps, etc. THEN he arranged for ME to take a delicious nap this afternoon, even though he too is running on almost no sleep. And then? He. made. dinner. He’s really too good to me. I think I would have DIED today without him. He’s going away on business next week for the whole week, so I think he’s trying to give me as much of a break now, since chances of my keeping any semblance of sanity next week are… um… nil.

Anyway, thanks to all of you who’ve been wondering where I’ve been and emailing me and IMing me to make sure I’m still alive. As it turns out, I am. I think. There are 603 UNREAD posts in my google reader right now.  Those are just the ones I haven’t read.  Then there’s a massive list of ones that I HAVE read, but never commented on.  I seriously don’t know why any of you continue to tolerate me.  Some of you… well… don’t.  And I don’t blame you!

I’m sitting here typing, wondering if any of this is coherent…

Stay tuned for Soap Opera Sunday this weekend. We’re likely to have a lot of new people on board!!!

Love you all! Cross your fingers (or “hold fists”, as my Dear Jenn would say) that the babies sleep tonight, and that their parents do too.

*smoochies*

    Oh Brill! How awful!

I hope everyone starts feeling better soon - and, I hope you guys get some sleep.

    Look after yourselves.

Exploded ear drums?!?! That makes my three kids all having strep at the same time seem like a walk in the garden. Oooo sweetie I am so sorry.

    Get more sleep lovely.

Oh you poor dear! How, oh how did his eardrum explode? Will it affect his hearing?

Please remember you must take care of yourself to take care of them. But then yes, I too am a mother, and I know you will ignore that bit - but be nice to yourself once the crisis is past.

Hubby is definitely racking up the points!!!

Sorry it’s so crazy. We’ll be here waiting. Don’t worry ’bout us.

I would totally send you healthy vibes, but as we are all plague-infested zombies up here, the best I can do is just not send my germs in your direction.

Hope all of you are better soon!!

  13. Kateastropheon 22 Sep 2007 at 11:26 am

I’m so sorry that you’ve had no sleep. Ear aches are no fun, especially when accompanied by a crucial part of the ear EXPLODING. Sigh. Poor little Scooby.

Love your guts and glad you’re still alive!

  14. BetteJoon 22 Sep 2007 at 11:51 am

Oh, no fun at all!! But what a hubby you have there! Hope all is well in the Brillig household soon!

  15. Kimberlyon 22 Sep 2007 at 12:41 pm

Wow, that was remarkably coherent, considering. I wish I lived down the street from you so I could help out! I seriously do. Poor Brilly-Brill!

And y’know, I think that even if you ignored me for a few years I’d still come here, ’cause I loves ya that much!

I’m sorry about the eardrum. It’s happened frequently at my house, so I understand.

    Good luck!

All the best in heath to the Brillig house! We missed you!

  19. Jo Beaufoixon 23 Sep 2007 at 2:32 am

Ooo poor little scooby and poor Mummy and Daddy.
    I can’t imagine keeping Miss M still for 15 minutes a day.
2 year olds do not do still do they.
And how awful that he’s been in such pain poor baby.
Hope you’re all feeling more with it soon, and I’ll be thinking of you next week while I’m away.
Mr Brillig sounds like a star. xx

  20. annoon 23 Sep 2007 at 8:05 am

Oh, I’m so sorry to hear about Fuzzles and Scooby. What a miserable week! I hope you are all well-rested and feel much better VERY soon!

  21. Luisaon 23 Sep 2007 at 12:03 pm

Dearest. Our prayers are with you. How awful. But a studly man you’ve got there. As my grandmother would say, “He’s a keeper.”

  22. fourier.analyston 23 Sep 2007 at 12:15 pm

Been there. Done that. Not fun. Just be sure and watch out that there is not residual hearing problem after the infection is healed. We went through that with DD1 and there was a hearing problem that took 3 years to finally resolve.

Sounds like hubby is a keeper! Hope the whole family is up and running on a full tank soon. Take care of yourself.

    So sorry, Brill!

We were with my nephew all weekend who was complaining that he didn’t feel well (or actually “I’m in rough shape!” he said). My SIL m’d me this morning to tell me he has strep. Waiting for the infections to start rolling in!

Hope things got better over the weekend!

Oh, and I’m not ignoring you on cre8bzz, I just can’t comment while I’m at work - they won’t get us the new ie because they suck. Thanks for the comments!

We’ve been through ear infections and those are bad enough — but an exploding ear drum? Wow — I can’t even imagine it. I hope everything turns out okay.

  25. cherannon 27 Sep 2007 at 8:41 pm

I empathize. Both my children get ear infections all the time. My son’s ears often rupture and oozes disgusting junk out of his ear. It is pretty painful. Poor little guy.

You see how slow I am to wake up and return to the blog world since my turn in the abyss. I just wanted you to know that I love you and I think of you all the time, even if I don’t come by to comment. I am commenting deep inside, where it counts baby. Where it counts.
