Thanks for posting this darlin’. I think no matter what political party you belong to, no matter who’s “side” you are on or what nationality you are, most human beings truly want peace.
I didn’t want my brother to have to go fight in Iraq. I’m proud that he did, but it’s not what I truly wanted for him. No one truly wants war, violence or hate.
Especially today, let’s all pray for less hate in the world.
Brillig, I loved this. And I loved your Jerusalem post. I had an Israeli girl in my 4th grade class that year and her dad’s sabbatical was up at UMass and they all had to go back to that war zone. I offered to keep Agam with DH and I, but the parents said, no, if they died, they’d all die together. And as a parent, now, I guess I understand, but that whole situation in the middle east is so complex and so tragic. Shelby wrote an amazing piece on September 11th today.
A beautiful symbol, but I’m glad you linked to your other posts. I was glad to read your words on Wordless Wednesday, especially on Sept. 11th. It takes less bravery to stand up against an attacker than it does to stand for peace.
Great image, great thought. Today, the anniversary of 9/11, I wrote an open email to Marines serving in Iraq, hoping they come home safely soon and cross posted it to my blog.
I think your WW is very appropriate…nothing else to really say. I remember wearing a peace necklace throughout high school 1970-73. I’m a first time visitor, attracted by the title of your blog. Have a great week!
