I KNEW I had a good reason…

Published by Brillig at 10:42 am under Blogginess

Hubby sent me this in an email a few days ago:

Why did you get married? I got married for love…. Others marry for more practical reasons:

And so I thought to myself, self, why did you get married. And I found the answer on Dancing Through yesterday.

How many people have your same name? These were my results with my maiden name.

1,069
people with my name
in the U.S.A.

How many have your name?

YIKES!!!

But THESE are my results with my married name:

HowManyOfMe.com
Logo There are
5
people with my name
in the U.S.A.

How many have your name?

See? Before I met him, I was one of well-over-a-thousand. And then, I married him and now I’m only one in five! How cool is that?

(And somewhere in here, I need to take issue with my parents who, despite our painfully boring last name, gave us all painfully boring FIRST names. Mine wasn’t even the worst! Two of my sisters have well over 2000 and another is more than 4000. And one of my brothers has almost FIVE THOUSAND!!! Seriously, Mom. Dad. A LITTLE ingenuity when it comes to naming your offspring goes a LONG WAY.)

Anyway, I KNEW there was a reason I married him.

Though, in all fairness, perhaps it also has something to do with the fact that he looks like this (though, typically WITHOUT the bright red nose) :

Woah. Get away from the computer. SERIOUSLY. Stop licking the computer! He’s taken, ladies!!

And perhaps, just perhaps it has something to do with the fact that he’s the kindest, sweetest, most responsible, most attentive, most amazing man in the whole wide world…

And perhaps it’s because I’m so insanely in love with him.

Fine! Before you puke, I’ll save the rest for some future Soap Opera Sunday. But just let it be known, that apparently I had a few good reasons.

StumbleUpon It!

I’ve always had a little crush on your hubs there. You two are great for each other and he’s perfect! (with the exception of his taste in music, but we’ll forgive him that!)

Plus, you two make bea-ooootiful children!

  2. Janet a.k.a. "Wonder Mom"on 17 Apr 2007 at 12:02 pm

    That’s funny.
And what a cute man too…I really know why you married him…Bown chicka..bow wow..

  3. Worker Mommyon 17 Apr 2007 at 12:21 pm

I don’t know “wonder mom” but I’m lovin her already with the “bow chicka bow bow”…thats one of hubby’s favorite little sayings.

    Anyway I digress.

Cute hubby and I promised I only licked my computer screen once…jk.

  4. Sheilaon 17 Apr 2007 at 12:29 pm

I agree- you two are totally perfect for eachother!

Okay, I did the name thing. My maiden name was 98, and my married name was 0. I guess that means I don’t exist!!!!! There are 0 people in the US with my last name . . .

  5. cathouse terion 17 Apr 2007 at 1:15 pm

Nifty blog! Love the slithey toves.

I had only three matches with my maiden name (which I have now returned to) and I ain’t even gonna try my married name because I know there are tons and tons!

So there’s a good reason to get a divorce… and never marry again! ;)

Forget about his looks, I always thought she married him for his excellent taste in music.

  7. Sugar Kaneon 17 Apr 2007 at 2:23 pm

    Very sweet!

    And very cute!

    Kateastrophe,
Awww, thanks. So sweet. And thank goodness you live far, far away and you’re happily married too…

    Wonder Mom and Worker Mommy,
Wonder Mom, meet Worker Mommy. Worker Mommy, meet Womder Mom. You two will get along swimmingly.

    Sheila,
Could it be that you’re really a figment of my imagination? WOW!!! I dreamed you up in great detail!

    Cathouse Teri,
Hey, thanks for popping by! It’s always nice to meet a new e-buddy! And yeah, if Hubby had been a Smith or a Jones, I probably would have had to run away screaming. I totally get that. hahaha.

Anonymous, OR SHOULD I SAY “SWEETY”
There he is, folks. My husband. Thanks for popping in darling, and wow (insert immense sarcasm here) the “anonymous” REALLY threw me off. Hahaha. And it’s true, you do have excellent taste in music–the music that I’ve introduced you to over the years. Love you, hon!

    Sugar Kane,
Awww, I know. I’m just a bowl full of mush today, aren’t I! And no, you can’t take him to a bar. hahaha.

From 500 to four when I get married.

    Hahah…is anon your DH???? hahaha

There’s an old Sippie Wallace tune that goes, “Women be wise…don’t advertise your man.”

But I do appreciate you sharing him a little… hehe… Don’t worry, I’d never put my tongue on THIS computer!!

  10. Butrfly4404on 17 Apr 2007 at 2:37 pm

    Oh.

  11. Brilligon 17 Apr 2007 at 2:39 pm

    Butrfly,
    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

Does that mean that there are computers that you WOULD put your tongue on?

  12. cathouse terion 17 Apr 2007 at 3:09 pm

Thanks for dropping by my blog, too, babe! I doubt I would ever have good reason to throw you out, so I’ll expect to see you!!

  13. whiskeymarieon 17 Apr 2007 at 5:03 pm

Single I was one of 243, which is surprising- REAL common names.

Married, It’s just me, baby- number 1!

And, oh yeah, your man is tasty in a homemade caramel sauce kind of way.

  14. soccer mom in denialon 17 Apr 2007 at 7:16 pm

What a fun site! Over 130,000 have my first name and over 21,000 have my last name but there are only 10 of us with both! If I’d taken my husband’s last name there would only be one other.

But I really like my name.

Now time to try the kids’ names.

  15. thethinkeron 17 Apr 2007 at 8:37 pm

    Awww… what a sweet tribute.

And according to that website, there are 0 people with my last name. Somehow, I doubt that…

But 336,312 people have my first name. That’s a lot.

  16. Ba Doozieon 17 Apr 2007 at 10:21 pm

I have 313 people with my name. I’ve had a few names, but we won’t go into that.

If you’re the number one hit on google for your name, then you’re truly a big deal

  17. Brilligon 18 Apr 2007 at 12:13 am

    Whiskeymarie,
Mmmmm, homemade caramel sauce. Wow. That sounds incredibly enticing… You got a recipe for that stuff?

    Soccer Mom,
Ooooh, good idea to try the kids’ names! Every parent should have to try their kids names on that site before they’re legally allowed to name them.

    The Thinker,
Don’t feel too bad about the first name thing. There are a million (literally!) people with my (maiden) last name. A MILLION FREAKING PEOPLE!!!

    Ba Doozie,
True. It’s all about being first on google. Which I’m not. I like to think that it’s because there isn’t a single thing out there authored by me under my real name. Even the stuff for close friends and family is under a childhood nickname, so I’ll never be popular on the internet. Plus, I’m the sixth site that comes up under Brillig. Seriously? #6? Are there THAT many things that come up under Brillig? Am I really that big of a loser? haha. (By the way, if you want an answer to that, click on my “vote for me so I can look cool” stuff and see that I am, indeed, not terribly cool. BUT! While you’re all there, how ’bout voting for me so that I look a little bit LESS like a total loser…

  18. moodswingingmommyon 18 Apr 2007 at 8:02 am

Ouch! Computer monitor just gave tongue a shock.

  19. Sugar Kaneon 18 Apr 2007 at 11:50 am

There are only 5 of ‘me’ in the US too. We must share the same name!

I’m usually very well behaved. I swear!

  20. Burficaon 18 Apr 2007 at 2:15 pm

I did that name thing, and my husband has such a generic last name, but I have an odd spelling of my first name. So 75 shared my name, but much less with my maiden name. hehehehe

I am deeply in love with Gigantor also. Doesn’t hurt that he looks alot like Bill Goldberg too. yummmmmmmm

  21. Shaunaon 18 Apr 2007 at 4:49 pm

    Awww….

  22. Annieon 21 Apr 2007 at 4:10 pm

I’m on a bit of a commenting spree here - sorry, I’ll stop after this ;)

I did this name thing and I am certainly unique, Nobody in the USA has my name :) Maiden or Married - how cool is that? (I used my full first name, Annie is a short version).

  23. Gunfighteron 23 Apr 2007 at 8:46 am

There are 30,000 (plus) people with the same name as me in this country.
